Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team, specializing in therapy for children aged 4-12 years old. The ideal candidate will assess, plan, and implement individualized intervention programs to enhance children’s motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive abilities, and daily living activities to support their development and school participation.
Job Description
- Conduct comprehensive assessments (standardized tests, clinical observations, parent/caregiver interviews) to identify developmental delays, sensory processing disorders, or physical disabilities.
- Analyze findings to create customized treatment plans aligned with each child’s needs.
- Provide evidence-based occupational therapy interventions to improve:
- Fine/gross motor skills (e.g., handwriting, coordination).
- Sensory integration (e.g., tolerance to textures, sounds).
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) (e.g., dressing, feeding).
- Social-emotional and play skills.
- Use play-based and child-centered approaches to engage young clients.
- Recommend adaptive equipment or environmental modifications (e.g., school, home).
- Work closely with parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals (speech therapists, psychologists) to ensure holistic care.
- Conduct workshops/training for parents/caregivers on home-based strategies.
- Document progress reports and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with Malaysian healthcare regulations.
- Stay updated on latest pediatric OT practices and attend professional development programs.
- Education: Diploma/Bachelor’s/Master’s in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution.
- Licensing: Added advantage - Registered with the Malaysian Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA) and/or Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).
- Experience: Added advantage - Minimum 2 years in pediatric OT (experience with autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, or developmental delays preferred).
- Proficiency in sensory integration techniques and pediatric assessment tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage children and build rapport.
- Ability to work in diverse settings (clinics, schools, or community centers).
- Language: Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages (Mandarin, Tamil) are a plus.
- Creative, patient, and passionate about child development.
- Experience with teletherapy or early intervention programs is advantageous.
